Helena Sanders (b. 1983, Austin, TX) lives and works in the Netherlands. She earned a Bachelors of Science from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY (2005) and currently attends the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague as part of the Artistic Research Masters program.

Her practice is rooted in painting, but often takes form in drawing, installation, performance and event production. Her current research is on the economic and political histories of pigment use and extraction, exploring the properties of organic and synthetic pigment and color as a vehicle for superstition, subversion of imposed political structures and identities, and communicating communal knowledge and experience.
